Hamilton turned a close first half into a decisive 42–20 victory over Marquette University on Friday night, completing an undefeated 9–0 regular season.
Marquette struck first with a 40-yard touchdown run, but the Chargers quickly responded. Quarterback Cole Erdmann broke free for a 60-yard rushing touchdown to tie the game. The Hilltoppers reclaimed the lead with a seven-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter before Erdmann answered with a 12-yard scoring pass, sending the teams into halftime tied at 14.
Hamilton seized control after the break. Erdmann connected with Avery Ash for a 70-yard touchdown, and Esten Haas followed with a 12-yard scoring run to give the Chargers a 28–14 advantage entering the fourth quarter.
Marquette narrowed the margin to 28–20 with a touchdown pass, but the Chargers refused to surrender their momentum. Erdmann found Dane Warren for a 42-yard touchdown before Brayden Schroeder powered into the end zone from two yards out to seal the victory.
The win completed Hamilton’s perfect regular season and secured the Chargers’ place atop the Greater Metro Conference. In a matchup between two of Wisconsin’s leading programs, Hamilton’s explosive offense and dominant second-half performance provided a fitting finish to an outstanding regular-season campaign.
